FOTD #3 using elf smokey eye edition beauty book ( green look) and christmas decor

The colors for the 3rd green look using this palette came out more neutral than expected. The green colors added a little bit of color to contour but not as much as I had assumed it would. It still came out nice for a neutral day look. I chose to use a green eyeliner to bring out the colors more.

We finally found some cheap napkins to complete our christmas table :)

Joann's had their napkin sets for 75% off so these were only maybe 3 bucks at most :) I love good deals!

I also spotted a little candle holder I had been eyeing at Joann's for a while. It was also on sale for around 2 dollars.

- loving this look- gray smokey eye with neutral lip

My favorite look to do is a gray smokey eye. I think out of all eyeshadow colors gray always makes your eyes look the best. I decided to pair it with a neutral lip today which is easier to say than do  since my lips are so pigmented.  I pretty much had to put concealer over my lips because that seems to be the only thing that drowns the red color out.  Pigmented lips are good when your in a rush and can just throw on lipgloss but when your going for a pale lip, not so much lol.

FOTD:
face:  revlon photoready in 005 natural beige, elf bronzer in sunkissed, elf blush in fushcia fusion ( light application- be very careful with this color it is really pink), mac mineralized skin finish in soft and gentle, benefit ooh la lift under the eyes, benefit pore professional

eyes:   benefit stay don't stray, nyx brow kit for brunettes on the brows and under as a highlight, mac vanilla pigment in inner corner, elf beauty book smokey eye edition ( top row): white in inner crease, light gray over the lid and the darker gray to blend the crease and outer corner,
mac eye liner in grey utility with falsies for the mascara

* I chose not to use the black since it was daytime but it might be a nice touch for a night look

lips-  rimmel lip liner in epic, revlon lipstick in soft nude with mac lustreglass in love nectar over top

I love this beauty book. It is probably one of the elf palettes I use the most just because I favor it's eyeshadow colors (grays, browns and greens) and because the pigmentation is amazing.

Here's some swatches just from the top row so you can get an idea of how pigmented it is ( this one swipe by the way)

They always have these palettes at target and for the cheap price, you really can't beat it.
I think my next few makeup postings will be involve two more eye looks using the remaining two rows, so stay tuned! :)

My new obsession- Skinnie Minnie Bic Bands

A few months ago I had heard other bloggers raving about Bic bands and how great they were. At first I wanted to try them out basically just as a head band to keep my hair in place while working out. I wear the skinnie minnie bands everywhere now. When I don't feel like doing up my hair I just throw one on and I love it. I recently lost the first brown sparkle band I ordered while shopping with my sister on my birthday and for a while it felt really weird not having it (yes that's how much I loved it). I tried to order the brown skinnie band again and considered ordering a purple one as well since I wear them sooo much but they were sold out of those ( and they still are :( ). I did order the red and silver bands and though they do not blend in as well with every outfit I still love them. Here's what they look like from the website:http://www.bicbands.com/products/skinnie-minnie-bic-bands?pagesize=40

Face and nails of the day

NOTD: Victoria Secret- Midnight Glamour

I got this nail polish at the VS outlet last spring ( a dollar or two maybe? it was really cheap at the outlets, I think 75% off) and I have been waiting for winter to sport this pretty and dark color. I really like its navy tone. You can still find it on amazon I know but not sure were else: http://www.amazon.com/Victorias-Secret-Midnight-Glamour-Lacquer/dp/B0048Y0UDQ

Here's some swatches from the daily varnish -http://thedailyvarnish.com/2010/12/07/victorias-secret-midnight-glamour/

Face of the Day: Today I used one of my favorite drugstore palettes- maybelline chai latte with benefit's dandelion blush for the cheeks and  pink plaid lipstick from mac ( with bare essentials lipgloss in katie over it)
sweater- forever 21

Here's the link for some swatches if you haven't tried out this palette yet. It is amazing for a neutral everyday eye but you can also play it up for an evening look. http://warmvanillasugar0823.blogspot.com/2011/08/august-2011-favorites.html

If you can't find this exact palette in CVS or walgreens the new sunbaked neutrals palette for maybelline has a smaller version of  chai latte actually in it.  You also can take advantage of the green colors in this newer palette too and create even more looks.

I figured I would list some tutorials I really like that help me create looks with these palettes-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZO7TiR9WpaY
